Joseph Thomas Briscoe is a native of South East, Washington DC. Joseph was born the youngest of five sons from John and Bessie Briscoe. Joseph is the elated husband to Stephanie D. Briscoe for 15 years and they have five children as well (3 girls and two boys).
Joseph graduated from Frank W. Ballou Senior High School in Washington, DC in 1992. After getting his diploma Mr. Briscoe continued his education studying Psychology with a minor in Sociology at Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem North Carolina. During this time Mr. Briscoe performed research and lab studies with his advisor Dr. Nelson Adams. Based on his studies with Dr. Adams he established professional publications and presented their findings at MBRS Symposiums in South Carolina and Washington, DC in 1994-1995.
Mr. Briscoe has collectively acquired twenty years of professional experience that includes education and mental health services. From teaching in private to public schools to directing grant programs on the college level collectively for 10 years. Joseph decided to further his education again by pursuing his master’s degree in education with a concentration in the Arts of Teaching and Educational Leadership at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. He completed an accelerated program in 16 months.
Mr. Briscoe noticed a pattern of dysfunction most students could not adapt to the classroom during his time in the classroom. The issue was more than just the school but derived from home for most male students. Therefore, Mr. Briscoe investigated mental health and out-patient therapy which allowed Mr. Briscoe for five years to go into the home and work with students and their families and collaborate with schools’ and other team professionals to support student’s meet their academic and professional goals.
Presently Mr. Briscoe is currently working on becoming an author for a series of books based on his education experience, mental health experience, coupled with research to help inform single parents and reform how they address the needs of their children. With an emphasis on males particularly in the African-American community. Simultaneously, he is collaborating with community programs in the Charlotte Area to mainstream his company Briscoe Mediation Group, LLC into a non-profit entity. His goal is to support the community and school system with elevating social development and academic advancement through professional mentoring.
